Gallavant Council Members

The council is composed of a variety of characters from different walks of life, who work hard year round to keep things ship shape in Gallavant. A lot goes on behind the scenes to bring us together each year, so we may continue to grow and share the magic of our community.

Seaman 1st Class

Scott Greene

I’ve had the good fortune, along with my Playa-mate Wench Michelle, to be a member of Gallavant since 2008. Our introduction to this eclectic group of individuals was at work parties where we were initially befriended by (then) Captain Morgan, Mr. Pig and Commander Kevin. We spent those first visits working on the USS Nevada and as I got to know her crew and Admiral Steve, and learn about the “philosophy” of Gallavant, I knew these are folks we should be hanging out with! As a result, the adventures have been many, the friendships cherished and the future unlimited. I’m honored to have the opportunity to sit on the Council, serve as a crewman of our ship, and assist (now) Vice Admiral Morgan in any way that I can (and yes, there are definitive limits).

Wench M Communications

Michelle McHardy

I’ve been a burner and core member of Gallavant since 2008, and along with my partner Seaman Scott, we’ve had a truly amazing adventure over the last decade. My first year on the Playa: the furniture trailer had jumped off the hitch, so Scott took our truck (and everyone else in camp) to go and try and retrieve it. There I was, a virgin, sitting for hours by a lone trailer, out in the middle of f*cking nowhere! It was then that I asked the question that every burner does at some time or another, “Was this really a good idea?” It was, they returned, I survived. As with all of our Wenches, I’m proud of my title and (usually) enjoy the contributions I’m able to make to our camp. As a Council Member and the Communication Officer for Gallavant, I manage the emails you receive (please open them!), FB posts and I’m currently working on archiving the website (Gallavant.us). Please feel free to contact me if you have anything to contribute to the historical record of our camp!

Bar Master Oso

Andy Gebhardt

I first camped with Gallavant in 2012, and have never looked back!  I came in eyes wide open, head on a swivel, taking in the sights and sounds like a man gasping for oxygen!  I honestly can’t fathom a time where I would miss a Burning Man!  And I truly cannot envision myself NOT celebrating the year with my Gallavant family!  I love the diverse, crazy, eclectic, nonsensical, loving, maddening, dizzying, familial vibe of our camp.  While I enjoy getting out on the Playa, I truly love our ARRGH Bar, which is where you’ll often find me.  So come visit, say hi, ask for Barmaster Oso, and I’ll be more than happy to grab a drink, belly up to the bar with you, and say ARRGH!

Booty Mistress

Cassandra Sparks

Hi, my name is Cassandra Sparks and I am a lover of lists, sci-fi, books, spray paint and hot glue.

I was born and raised in Southern California and moved to the Reno area in my early twenties.  While the initial culture shock was severe, I have grown to love this town.

As a child, I dreamt of being a world famous singer, but as I cannot carry a tune, I followed my love of lists to a career in Accounting and Inventory Management.  I still do daily singing performances in my car and for my dogs so you don’t have to feel sad for me.

I have been with Gallavant since 2011.  Through this camp, I have met so many wonderful, loving, wild and wacky humans that I never would have met otherwise.  I cannot express how much I value all the diverse ideas and new friendships I have gained while being part of this amazing group.

LEAD BUILD USS NEVADA

Joseph Stanton

I’ve been part of Gallavant for over a decade, with a long history of involvement both within camp and across the playa. I first camped with Gallavant by chance, and it was during that first year that I met Timeless. I later became his apprentice, learning chainsaw carving and helping lead four major art installations to the playa. I even went on to display my very first carving in front of the bar, a full-circle moment that marked how deeply rooted Gallavant had become in my life.

As time went on, my involvement with camp continued to grow, particularly through caring for and stewarding the USS Nevada, which has become my primary focus and passion. Along the way, I became a professional fire dancer and went on to start the Pyro Pirate Brigade, Gallavant’s own fire troupe dedicated to renegade circus, gallavanting across the playa aboard the USS Nevada and sharing the fire and magic of our camp wherever we roam.

Burning man and Gallavant specifically have been a huge part of my life and some of the biggest supporters of my journey as an artist.

COLEAD USS NEVADA

Chuck Thompson

I’ve been interested in Burning Man since 1999 and officially embracing my journey on playa since 2014. In 2022, a dear friend (and longtime Gallavant pirate) invited me to join the camp, and that year marked my first burn with this incredible crew.

At my very first work party, I met a big chunk of the core group and immediately felt that we clicked. That was also the first time I worked on the USS Nevada, and honestly… it was love at first sight. I spend a good portion of my off-season aboard the Nevada—she’s a labor of love, a passion project, and a ship that has fully stolen my heart.

As a certified social butterfly, I wasted no time building deep, long lasting connections within camp. These humans are my chosen family, my friends, and my people. I’m endlessly grateful to be part of such a wildly diverse, talented bunch—and truly honored to sit on this council and help keep the magic sailing, the lights blinking and the music bumping!

Allison Wall

Allison Wall is honored to join the Gallavant Council, bringing a collaborative spirit and deep appreciation for Burning Man culture. A longtime Burner, Allison is known for connecting people, ideas, and resources in ways that strengthen community and support creative expression.

Off-playa, Allison works in food manufacturing and flavor innovation, where teamwork, logistics, and creative problem-solving are essential—skills that translate seamlessly to camp leadership. On playa, she values Radical Inclusion, Communal Effort, and burning with the amazing family that makes up Gallavant.

As a member of the Gallavant Council, Allison is excited to help steward the camp’s legacy while supporting its continued evolution—ensuring Gallavant remains a welcoming, safe and inspiring home in Black Rock City.

Acacia Bachman

Acacia's first burn was 2013. She had been following it closely for years on MySpace and after a few failed attempts going with groups, she packed up her car for a 3 week roadtrip and set out by herself, visiting friends along the way. Her first morning on playa she walked out to the man, bartended a shift with Siberian Electric Company (the camp a friend had set her up with), and set off on an adventure. She made it to the end of the block. There she saw a sign that said “try our seamen!” and was drug into The Arrrg bar for Danish Christmas and that was it! After spending the next two weeks with Gallavant on and off playa she knew she was home.

Troy Morgann

This is a story of a person that didn't know he was destined to become a pirate. Burning since 2001, I became associated with Gallavant in 2005. After a year of hard work on the USS Nevada (art car pirate ship), was promoted to the position of Captain Morgan by Admiral Steve. After 2 years of being 'Captain Morgan', Captain Ron pulled a highlander move and stated "There can only be one Captain!". During a battlefield promotion and much ceremony in our very own ArrghBar, was promoted to the position of "Vice Admiral Morgan". Now am I not only in charge of making sure the USS Nevada is functional and decorated for Burning Man, but is also put in charge of all of the vices of the camp!
